Wesleyan District Meeting.
Thursday's Sitting,
The members of tho District Meeting met again at 11 a.m. Prayer was offered by the Revs. Messrs Abernetby, and Caughey, Arrangements were made to supply Te Aroha with religious services. Other routine business having beeen dispatched, an interesting discussion took place on the work of God. The chairman urged the brethren to cultivate a deeper piety, a holier zeal, and to aim, as did the early Methodist preachers, atthe con version oirneu through Christ for the glory of God. The iollowine resolution was moved and carnett :- " The twelve rules of a helper, and the Liverpool minutes having; been read, an earnest and animated conversation followed on the statistical returns of the district. An increase for the year wai reported of 90 memhers, 551 Sunday scholars, and 2007 attendents on public worship, while in many of the circuits there was distinct evidence of deepened seriousness, quickened Direction, and increased zeal on the part of our church members. Deep gratitude to God was felt and expressed for this very gratifying improvement in the several departments of our church work, and the members of the meeting in separating, resolved to give themselves yet more fully to God and tho word of his grace. The journal having been read by trie Secretary, was signed by the Chairman. Totes of thanks were passed to the Secretaries (the Key. H. E. Dewsbury and H. Bull), to the reporter {Rev. G. Bond), to
the ladies of the Woaleyan churches in Auckland who have entertained the ministers, iiud to the Chairman for his able presidency.
