MR WALLACE'S PRIZE CUPS.
IN the window of the Auckland Music Warehouse is exhibited the handsome silver' uup, valued at £25, presented by the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company for competition at the Cambridge Agricultural Show for the best pen of {three} ewes. Mr James Wallace of Papatoitoi was the successful competitor. Mis three Lincoln ewes also gained first prize and the Champion Cup at Cambridge. The same animals exhibited at the Auckland Grand November Show, 1879, again carried off high honour, securing first prize as well as Mr Fred Lewisson's silver cup for the best pen of Lincoln, ewes. Another Lincoln ewe from Mr Wallaces flock carried off first prize at Cambridge Show for the best ewe with lamb at foot. On the silver cup above referred to is the inscription]:— "Presented by the New Zealand Loau and Mercantile Company to James Wallace Esq., for the best pen of ewes at Cambridge Farmer's Club Cattle Show, 1878." (The opposite side of the cup is neajtly engraved with fern-trees, New Zealand scenery, cattle and sheep. Mr Lewisson's cup 4s also on view in the above window, and has the following inscription:—"Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association, Annual Show, 1879.' Cup presentediby Mr F. H. Lewisson for the best pen of Lincoln ewes, awarded to Mr James Wallace, Hillside, Papatoitoi."
