SUDDEN DEATH.
'William Chisholni, an engine driver, dropped dead in Gathrie and Latnach's establishment this morning. He had just gone to work, having been engaged ou Friday. Excitement was the cause of death. He leaves a wife and a large family.
The information against the tramway workmen for altering the curves ou Sunday -vvas dismissed, Mr Watt holding that the work was necessary. Mrs Brittain's farewell lecture was given •test night at the Princess Theatre. Cook and Kilkenny finished their billiard matches at the Empire on Saturday. Cook was victorious. '
At the Police Court to-day a chnrge of sly grog selling was preferred against Jas. Neill, au herbalist in Dunedin, for having Bold a bottle of brandy to « customer. The 4 <tase was dismissed on the ground that the Lrandy was undoubtedly supplied for mediea» purpose. DEATH OF A FELON. John Bronan who was scateuced to penal servitude for life, for assaulting a girl at Invetcargill, died in Dunedin gaol this! morning of heart disease, '
