FREE TEMPLARS' CONCERT AND BALL.

This entertaiumenfc received a large share of public patronage last night in the Lornestreet Hall, it being the fourth anniversary of the "Star of Freedom Lodge." The chair was taken by Mr George Warburton, who delivered an interesting speech on the financial condition and prospects of the order. The lodge had 77 good members on its roll, and although the balance at thei bankers was not large it was to thci I credit. He and his friend Mr James Cox were determined to pcrp'overe in the good cause, and assist as far c , their limited powers would permit in uprooting the upas tree wliich was perpetually doing its deadly work. The/following programme was then produced :—Pianoforte overture, Mrs Hertz; "My Grandfather's Clock," Mr' O'Hare; '/'Last Rose of Summer," Miss Gribble; reading, "Miss Smith's Visit to Miss Fidler's Cookery School;" " Spring, Beautiful Spring," and "Jessie's Dream," by Miss Freeman; a scene from the "Lady of Jjyons," by Miss Hayward and Miss Biyan; recitation, "The Wonerfn' Wean," and "Spanish Champion," by .Mr Pitkethley ; "I'm a Happy Married Man," Mr Nairn. The whole closed wfth 'the i National Anthem. The refreshment tablet; were presided over by Mr and Mrs Hunt. Mr Donald acted as M.C., and the dancing was kept up with much spirit until thre/: o'clock. Nearly 300 persons were present and everything passed off in a pleasant and agreeable manner.
