ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY.
Tiie monthly meeting of this Society was held this afternoon in Princes-stroct. Present :—Hon. Mr Chamberlain (chairman), and Messrs MacfFarlanc, Earl, and Hughes. White Fish Ova.—A letter wasread trom Mr Hugh Craig, of San Francisco, stating that he had authorised Mr Creighton to pro. cure a quantity of ova for the Society, and, if successful, he should draw upon the Society for the charge.-Mr Earl said the financial position of the Society should be considered. He would move " That a communication be sent to Mr Craig, to countermand the order." Seconded by Mr Macffarlane and carried.
Brown Trout. —The Secretary announced the arrival of brown trout from the South in good condition. It was resolved, on the motion of Mr Hughes, that Mr Earl receive 500 for the streams in his district, and the balance to be placed in the Pokeno river. Monthly Accounts.—The monthly accounts were brought lip, showing iucomc from August 7th, including previous month's balance, to be £342 10s Bd, leaving a credit balance of £275 12s 9d in the Bank of New Zealand,, ... i *
