Mr. Macandrew on Public Works Expenditure.
(BY TELEGKAPH.) WELLINGTON, this day. During an interview yesterday between a deputation of City Councillors (on behalf of the unemployed) and Mr Macaudrew, the latter said he wished to correct a statement which had been nude to the effect that Wellington had been badly treated in the matter oE public works. As a matter of fact he had been called over the coals for so much money being spent in Wellington. The actual figures shewed £420,000, or one-fourth of the whole Public Works Expenditure for the year coding 30th Juno last, had been incurred in Wellington District Tenders are being called for tho Kaiwara section of the Wellington-Foxton railway. ____________
