THEATRE ROYAL.

"THE SORCERER."

This comic opera was repeated last evening !at the Theatre Royal, to a well-filled hdusc, and the various parts sustained Vyith much credit. Dr. Daly made an admirable representation of an English clergyman, breathTug his regrets at the swelling of tlie tender passion in the autumn of life, with melody enough in bis heart to sing his retrospective ;plainji. Constance,; however, .youpg and beautiful as she is, whispers sweet sympathies for the rector, which her mother, Mrs Bartlett J Miss Heath) encourages with w6rds of hope. Constance was well represented by Miss Isabel Hunter, whose acting and singing merited the expressed approval of the auditory. Miss Teaglie represented Lady Sangazure with considerable truth. Miss Leaf was the Aline of the opera, in which she had the power of displaying her rich vocal powers to advantage as the heroine of the opera. Mr Hodson, as the Sorcerer, was eminently successful, and played with the liveliness of an enchanter. Mr C. Harding, as Sir Marmaduke, did well. Of Mr Grain, we need add but little to our former notice, As the soldier and singer, he was nearly perfect, and deservedly won the applause which greeted his every act. Mr Love.as the Notary, was worthy of notice. The music of the orchestra, under tlie baton of Mr Brown, was of a character which jieeds no criticism. The orchestra was full and esp}ent. It is very gratifying to know that an opera, jncj»ding so many local singers, should be so well patronised by the public. It is also encouraging to the singers themselves. The " Sorcerer" will be repeated this evening, and we trust that those who have not witnessed its performance will do so, ere it is too late.
