MAHURANGI, this day. There aro a large number of settlers here at the races. At 12 o'clock the Hobson Baud marched to the race-course, followed by a large number of Maoris. The stewards have not accepted McGee's nomination of Elsa, owing to the entry being made to Percival, of Aucklaud, instead of to Mahurangi. Mr Sheehan is not expected to give a political address to-night. Racecourse, 2 p.m. Maiden Plate of 15 soys. : Muun's Fred Mathews 1 Mallet's Cock Robin 2 Six horses ran. 2.30 oclock. R6d_cy Cup of 50 soys.—Mr Kateue's Skylark, 1; Pye's Tom Fin, 2. Also ran Jessamine, Belle of Me, aud Chanticleer. A splendid race. 2.35 oclock. A protest has been entered by Mann, that Skylark crossed him, collided, and threw Tom l.un on his knees. Mr Sheehan is leaving for Auckland this afternoon. He will address the electors iv February.
