DR HECTOR'S VISIT.

NAPIER, this day. Dr Hector is a passenger by the Rotorua, after spending a fortnight in the King Country. He visited Te Kuiti, and inspected the coal taken from that vicinity. He believes there" are sonic valuable coal seams there, and has a very high opinion of iho Makau cotd. After finishing some business South Dr Hector returns to Auckland. For some days past the grass about Te Aute. along the line of rail, has been in astate of conflagration. It is rumoured that thefird was occasioned by sparks from a locomotive passing on tho line. Yesterday the Are assumed more serious proportions, and destroyed crops belonging to the Hon. !H..Russell - audiPurvis Russell, and even threatened the town-hip. Of Waipukawau. Colonel Russell estimates hia loss up to last night at £500 . Hehias telegraphed to the Government at Wellington that he holds them liable for that amount. Ho has also.communicated with the Insurance Companies, warninc: them of the serious danger to "risks'' they have in the neighbourhood of Waipukawau.
