POLICE COURT.—This Day.
(Before R. C. BarstOAV Esq., R. M.) LARCENY AND EAIBEBZLEMENT. Edward Piercy, described as a master mariner, charged with larceny of £126 as a bailee, and converting the same to his own use ; also, of embezzling money, four charges, amounting to £30, and upwards, the property of his employer, John MacPhersou, of Richmond, Bay of Plenty, Avas fully committed for trial at the Supreme Court at the next Criminal Sittings. Mr Duf aur watched the case for the prisoner, aa'lio reserved his defence. A SINGULAR THEFT, STEALING A MAN'S BREECHES. Mary Storey, a young woman formerly of Waiuku, but Avho for several years has led a dissipated and irregular life in this city, AYas brought up on a charge of stealing a shirt, coat, handkerchief, breeches, and two love'letters, on the evening of the 22nd inst., the property of James Rycroft; value 20s.
Sub-Inspector Pardy said that prisoner, Avho appeared to be suffering from delirium tremens, Avas not in a condition to plead. The breeches, and other things Avere left in the ship of Professor Evans, AA'hen prisoner deliberately Avalked into the shop to inquire after Mr Thakaberry, and took the things. She was taken into custody Avith the breeches in her possession. Prisoner Avas remanded until the 29th inst.
