FORESTERS' ANNIVERSARY FETE.
In accordance Avith au advertisement published in another column, the Foresters ef Auckland Avill celebrate the fourteenth anniversary of Court City of Auckland on Boxing Day, December 26th. A procession of that and other courts,|includingthe Zealandia's Pride (iuvenile) will leave the Cook-street Hall at 9.30 a.m. sham, precedby the Hibernian brass ban.i, for the Domain. A large programme of athletic sports, includins? races of A'arious descriptions, for which excellent prizes are offered, ha 3 already been published. Races have also been arranged for the smaller children (boys and girls) of Foresters, and a large number of Christmas toys will be distributed amongst the Avinners. The following handicaps have been declared for the two principal events :— Friendly Societies' Cup. 300 yds handicap, open to members of any recognised Friendly Society: J. McArthur, T.0.0.F., scratch ;J. Phillips, A.0.F., syds; A. G. Hughes, 1.0.0. F., 6yds; George Bridgeford, A.0.F., 7yds; Robert Greenland, A.0.F., Byds; W. Katterns, A.O. W\, 9yds; Chas. Johnstone, A.0.F., 9yds ;W. H. Tucker, A.0.F., 10yds. 200 Yards Handicap (Foresters only): J. Phillips, scratch ; George Bridgeford, 3yds: J. Cutler, 3yds; Robert Greenland, 4yds; W. Katterns, Iyds; W. H. Tucker, syds; C. Johnstone, syds; W. Ward, syds; George Fortzer, Byds. 150 Yards Handicap (Foresters only): J. Phillips, scratch; J. Entries for the other events Avill close on the ground. The arduous, and not at all pleasant duties of handicapper have been very satisfactorily performed by Mr F. Christmas, and Aye must certainly compliment that gentleman upon the manner in which the men have been placed. The sports are expected to conclude early in the afternoon, and the procession will return to town at 4 o'clock. During the afternoon the orthodox amusements such as cricket, football, dancing, rounders, quoits, kiss-in-the-ring, French tig, jolly miller, &c, will be arranged for by the Committee, whose untiring efforts to make the affair a success are worthy of commendation. In the evening the soiree and ball in the Choral Hall, wnen tea Avill be provided at 6"30 p.m. After tea, an hour will be spent in singing, etc., the assistance of some of the best amateur talent having been secured for the occasion. The whole will wind up with a select ball, for which the dance music will be supplied by the Hibernian band. The duties of M.C. will be discharged by Mr b\ Christmas, who will no doubt give general satisfaction. Tickets for the soiree and ball may be obtained from the secretary, or any member of the committee at the small price of 3s each.
