AUCKLAND G.M. COMPANY.

THE following report from the manager was received and read at a meeting of Directors held at Mr Home's office this morning : —

" Waitekaur?, September sth. The Directors of Auckland G.M. Co. Gentlemen,—l have much pleasure in informing you that since I took charge of your mine a contract was let for 200 feet of driving, of which atout 172 feot is completed. A reef about 4 feet through has been cut in this level of a promising description. A drive has also been carried in above the low level drive, and at 59 feet, the main reef was cut about -10 feet from the surf-ace of the hill, iheso two works will cost between £L7O and £ISO, and for the amount of work done the cast has been less than an? work done in any other of the companies here, and the work itself has been done in a thoroughly substantial manner. 1 have already expressed a wish that one or more of your directors wouid pay a visit to the mine, to'confer with me as to future operations and it ifl much more important now that such be done, as the contract haa nearly approached completion. I would, howorer, suggest that driving be immedifttely started on the reef cut in the low level, and that when the body of stone in the upper level is driven through, that should also be opened out on. So far, the m;>n are about live feet through th» reef, without the remotest sign of the hanging wall, and the s!:one is very similar in appearance, to tho Waitukaurl quartz, and if driven on, a shot of gold would probably be disclosed at a comparatively trifling cost. I think if. would also be

advisable to nonrinue the low level drive, for the purpose of further prospect ing your mine."

The Directors agreed to adopt the .suggestion of the manager, and have instructed him to start driving at once on the reel; recently cut in the low level. Two of the Divcc orS VTCIO il^° elected to visit the iala<v —.
