Street Tramways. Tenders for street tramways are to close in three months. Mr Turbridge, who saved the lives of the crew of the Dagmar off the coast recently, has been presented with a gold watch. Political Meetings. A committee of the late pabhc meeting have resolved that weekly meetings of the committee should be held nntil the close of the session, in order to watch the oourse of events and take further action if found necessary. It was also resolved to open communication with committees in country districts, and, in co-opera-tion with them, promise combined action as occasion arises, and in such direction as may be found desirable.
Fire.—lnsurances £300. A house in Albany-street was destroyed by fire last night. Insured for £150 in the New Zealand office trad £150 in the Royal,
