(From our own Correspondent.) This day. To-morrow's Nominations. Election matters are growing interesting. The nomination takes place to-morrow when Sir George Grey, Julius Vogel, W. Eowe, J. Gibbons, J. Mackay and several outsiders will be nominated. The running is expected between the two first unless Sir George's friends find a good man to oppose him. The races at Tararu are going on and there is a large attendance. A youth named Baxter was kicked on the head by a horse, sustaining a dangerous wound.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company have received a telegram dated as follows :—London, 16fch December, 1575. Wool. The sales closed firmly. The sales comprise about 105,000 bales. 8,000 bales have been withdrawn during the past sales. 30,000 bales have been taken for export. A good many second hand parcels have been offered during the past salep. Trade in the manufacturing districts is unchanged. The next sales will commence on the 15th Pebruaay.
The s.s. lona yesterday made a highly successful trip to the Hot Springs and the Kawau.; She left at 11 o'clock conveying 183 passengers. The weather was showery but fine on the whole, and the excursion was highly enjoyed. Sir George Grey welcomed the visitors to his island home, and himself came up to town in the lona on her return Fury Beautiful Designs to Choose From.
