(From our own Correspondent.) Yesterday. A Scene at a Good Templar Meeting. A scene occurred at a Good Templars' entertainment last night. A Templar sang a song which the cnairman, a clergyman, thought unfit. Sooie Templars persisted in the song being sung. The chairman and a large number of the audience left. The press wires into the Committee, and says such proceedings will do incalculable harm to the temperance cause. This day. Insolvency. Binka, draper, late of Auckland, has called a meeting of his creditors. The shop was closed for "stocktaking." Captain Russell addressed the constituency la»t evening. The Southern Crosß leaves for Auckland this afternoon. Election Matter*. Captain Russell, last ni^ht addressed a large meeting, when Mr Maney withdrew from his candidature. Mr Buchanan will be announced in the Telegraph to-night. Mr Buchanan chairman of the meeting last night, denounced in strong terms the action of the Inspector of Police in taking an elector off the stage when asking a question of Sir Donald McLean, and the fact that during Sir Donald McLean's address, a body of police was stationed outside the hall. Captain Russell made an able address. A motion of confidence was proposed. But an amendment of thanks osly for tb.3 address was carried by a large majority. Captain .Russell runs with Me Lean.
