[Per Press Telegram Agency.] This dayPresbyterian Union. The Presbytery yesterday cordially decided on union with the North. The Rev. Mr. Kirkland, of Hokitika, declined the call for West Taieri. Escaped Lunatic. The lunatic who cut his throat and was put in hospital, escaped last night and ran down to the police station naked. He was re-lodged in the hospital. Football Match. The football match comes off on Wednesday. Druak to DeathOn Saturday, a hawker named Robert Stephens, was found dead in a yard adjoining the Universal Hotel, in Madagascar-street. The deceased, who was about 50 years of age, and a native of Devonshire, bad been drinking heavily of late. He was possessed of considerable means. No inquest will be held. Lunatic Cuts his Throat. Yeateiday, a lunatic named George Williams, a wood-cutter, living at Pine Hill, was found in London-street with his throat cut. He was taken to the hospital, where Dr. Yates dressed his wound, which was not a fatal one. Mr. Darrell made an appropriate speech in answer to repeated Church Periodical.
