(From our own correspondent.) This day. Alleged Gold Robbery at Coromandel Inspector Bullen left for Coromandel last night- to investigate an alleged gold robbery, aud charges of breaches of the law, regarding gold reduction by the owner of a mine and plant. It is said that a man named Evans and another have been guilty of breaches of the Quartz Crushing Act. Burgess Koll. The Burgess Roll for the borough of Thames contains 30 female voters who will be polled by the candidates for municipal honors next week. Lead Poisoning. The family who are suffering from poisoning by white lead on a water tank are doing well. in the Court to-day the case of Cribb v. Mitchell arising out of the removal and demolition of a dwelling house in course of erection on land which Mr Mitchell claims and Cribb says he purchased from native owners, and another case, Wickham v. Gem Goldmining Company, a friendly summons to test whether dummy transfers can be sold by sharebrokers and registered by Company are proceeding. Only sales in sharemarket : Britannia (Tairua), 2s 9d, 3s ; sellers, 3s 6d ; buyers, 3s.
The following is the official report from the Golden Calf mine :—" Driving on main reef continued. -Reef keeps about the same size. Yield at the Herald Battery looks similar to last crushing at the Prince Alfred, of which the 26 ozs. of retorted gold reported was the balance. The first cleaning up at the Herald battery will take place on Saturday next. The cross-cut air drive to the Otago will be in about the end of this week. —Geo. Thorn, mine manager."
