The barque Cabarfeidh was signalled this morning a,i. anchor outside the reef. She had not come up harbour at the time we went to press. She must have had a good run from Melbourne. She is a new vessel, owned by Capt. D. H. McKenzie, and comes in ballast, or with very little cargo. Her nnmber being in the shipping register she spelt out her name according to the alphabetical cede, .19 follows:—Ca —flags 0.8. J.P., bar-C.8.G.N., fe—C.B.R.J., iW.T..F,, ah—C.B.M.K. In consequence of the number of flags exhibited, it was generally thought that some important communications were being made from the ship.

The schooner Favorite cleared out to-day for Wangaroa with stores. The brigantine Look Oat entered out to-day for Wangaroa.

Mr Holdship made some practical remarks on the subject, in which he deprecated the fencing policy of the City Council and the Harbour Board. The question of responsibility must be faced, and he theught they ought to co-operate with the Council in trying to accommodate matters. Captain Daldy modified his resolution, when ifc was seconded by Mr Holdship and carried. The report of the Lighting Committee objected t) any alteration in the present lighting system on the wharf. Some correspondence with Dr. Pollen was read with respect to the projected acquirement of the foreshore by the Board. <
