OHINEMURI.

(From our own Correspondent.) Mackaytown, Thursday RUSH TO TAIRUA.

The Tairua field appears to have turned the minds of the bulk of the diggers, for every hour of the day you see swagsmen on their way to the new El Dorado. To-day has been no exception to the rule, for Nolan of the Just-in-Time have sworn off, and Clarkson is following suit. At R,otokohu, the Morning Star claim, on the east side of the Star of the South, and who stood a chance of securing the reef that will doubtless be found in the hill above, have caved in, after securing a large lode by a shadow level. This.lode showed a fair prospect, but the influx of water was great, and the level shallow so that it was incumbeot to open or commence a new deep level. This being a work of time, I hear the men were not in a position to carry it out. THE ROTOKOHU.

The proppectors of Rotokohu, Snowden & Smith (Star of the South Claim), have ceased to operate in their shaft, and have returned to the winze in the shallow level, in order to ascertain the correct bearings of the lode. They are now sinking through the bar of blue mullock that lay at the bottom of the winze when they originally ceased working there.

In the Evening Star (Skidmore's) driving into the hill still continues, and another I believe will be given to it. A few veins are in the face of the drive, and this may possibly be the fore-runner of the reef system. At Fern Flat, Clarkson and party are preparing to capitulate in order to try their luck at Trirua. From the bottom of the shaft they have opened out a few feet towards the river. About 151bs of stuff wus tested a few days ago at Auckland and yielded sozs. 17dwts. of gold per ton. DISCOVERY OF LIGNITE.

The Sceptre claim (Murray and Cameron's) five men's ground, adjoining the above, are carrying in their drive to intersect Clarkson's drive, and yesterday a seam of lignite over two feet thick appeared on the surface. The shareholders seem bent on carrying on their work to test the reef.
