The Tabapuna returned last night from Shortlaod, crowded with miners who had gone to vote for Mr. Rowe. Great surprise is felt at Mr. Davies being elected. The prospectors of the Karangahake have not yet cut the reef. Good prospects are still obtained at the bottom of the wiaae. The Star of the South claim, »t Rotokohu and adjoining mines, had not Rnowden's reef in hand last night. A quantity of timber is arriving for buildins purposes. Mr. C. F. Mitchell is erecting a large private residence. Wi Kateuo, the deceased chief of the Kiriwiris, was a great Hauhau, and stronglj' opposed to the opening of Ohinemuri.
