MR LUCKIE AND HIS CONSTITUENTS.

ENTBIES FOR CANTERBURY RACES,

NELSON.

This day. Mr Luckie addressed a large meeting of his constituents last night. He dwelt principally on the abolition of provinces question, and stated it was time that all the provinces were swept away and the land funds made colonial revenue. He referred to the system of provincial finances in Auckland and Wellington as rotten in the extreme and calling for the interference of the General Government. Hesaid Wellington rode rampant through the Audit Act, and the " Bturdy beggar" was always trying to extract money from the General Government. It was high time the General Government reigned supreme in the colony. His reference to the abolition of the provinces waa received with loud cheers. A vote of confidence was unanimously passed.
