WELLINGTON.

This day

In the Provincial Council last night a motion that Sunday trains be run on country lines of railways was negatived by 19 to 12. An opinion was expressed that no necessity exists for Sunday trains except between Christchurch and Port l.yttelton. Notwithstanding the large influx of immigrants they are finding work pretty readily, but great difficulty exists from want of living accommodation in country districts, and the Provincial Council passed a resolution last night requesting the General Government to erect more Immigration barracks.

Six Bank ©f New Zealand shares were sold at auction yesterday at £16 12s Grl each.
