POLICE COURT.—WEDNESDAY.

Dbttnkenness.—A person was fined the usual penalty for the above offence. Bkeach of the Mctnicipai/ Act, 1866. — Elizabeth George, for allowing a pig to stray was fined 2s 6d. —Matthew Grace, furious driving, was fined ss.—Douglas Duff, ill-treat-ing two horses, was adjourned till Friday. — Agnes Kesm, for permitting a goat to stray, fined 53. —Ellen Black, for the like offence, fined 2s 6d. —Brian Culloty, furious driving, was fined 5s. —Wm. Scott, for trespassing on the footpath with a goat perambulator. Mr. Wynn appeared for the defendant. The Bench dismissed the defendant, with an admonition to avoid a similar occurrence.

Phovokino- Language.—Wm. Burley was charged by Andrew Heavy with the above offence, and the complainant was compelled to take the present proceedings fearing bodily harm.—James Ward heard prisoner threaten to take complainant's life on more than one occasion, particularly on the 26th January. —James Wall was called on to contradict the complainant's evidence, who swore that had any disturbance taken place at the whare he must have heard. —Jonathan Greenwood called by the defendant, never heard any threats made use of.—Wm. Cole gave confirmatory evidence. Never heard the defendant threaten complainant on the 26th inst. in the whare.— Bernard Martin, auother of the prisoner's mates, corroborated the previous evidence. — The Bench dismissed the case.
