THE FATAL ACCIDENT AT TARAKU.
' VERDICT 'OF'MA^SDAUGHTER, An inquest was held on Wednesday, at the Royal Hotel, I araru, befo-e the coroner (Or. Kilgour), on the body of Helena Wakefield Collett, aged 15 months, tho infa t daughter of Mr. Collett, storekeeper, who died from having been run over by a dray driven by Thomas Crowe. —Sub-Inspector Bullen appeared to conduct the . xarainat bri on behalf of the Crown. Several witnesses, including the mothT, gave evidence as to the stat- of Crowe, who was proved to have been drunk and asleep at the time the horses Were making their way to the Tararu battery. After a lengthy sitting, the jury returned a verdict ot A'tAlanslamihter" againot Thomas Crowe, who was committed to take his trial at the next sitting of the Supreme Court.
