THEATRE ROYAL.
Watt Philhps's beautiful three-act drama, entitled " The Poor Strollers," was produced at this theatre last evening to a very good house, and the Star Company did full justice to the author. Mrs. Harry Jackson, as Camilla, was again in her element, and played with a true and womanly feeling. In many scenes with Maurice Warner- (Mr. Joseph Rayner), her acting was excellent, and the beautiful and telling speeches she has to recite were well delivered by this now favourite actress ; she was twice called before the curtain and loudly applauded. Of Mr. Rnyner's Maurice Warner we cannot speak in too high terras, and when we say he played well, it speaks volumes; from the poor strolling artist in the first act, to the cousin and husband in the last act, hia acting and delivery
were alike. Mr. Sam Howard,^B©^u^i strolling linker, and his get-upl?^V'»i with acting, kept the house ''So** W fcinued roar of laughter. Soire '$* U and Hooper, contributed in no small '■m^ the success of the piece. Mrs H<i*T^? *° the Strolling Gipsy Girl, played very^'X and in her dance quite brought dowT!?1 house. Mrs. Joyce, as Judy, and UforT mond, as Placida, played their small «7 well. The capital farce of "A.S S» "* eluded the performance. To-nigut tli programme is announced, and those who^u to see a good drama well played, we them not to lose the opportunity of B<*in !? " Poor Strollers" at the Royal. etlt
