■LITTLE IiIVEK 'BRANCH Madam Just, Christchurch, gave & very interesting address on Switzerland at the monthly meeting of the .Little River Worsens' Institute. Mrs J. :N. McGowan presided over members and passed a motion of sympathy with Mrs J. McQueen jnr., and family.
A siib-coiiimittee was elected to organise a social "evening on October 23. A sales table to augment funds was well patronised.
Musical items were given by Mesdames C. Crodock, D. Stewart and P. O'Connor.
Competitions resulted as follows: Prettiest C. Dutton 1, Mrs J. Berwick 2, .Mrs H. Mould 3; Vase of Tulips—Mrs A. Shadbolt 1, Miss E. Bates 2, Mrs W. .Bulman 3; Date scones—Mrs A. :Patten 1, Miss E. Bates 2, Mrs A. Shadbolt 3.
Hostesses were Mesdames L. Lewthwaite, W. Bulman, H. Mould, Misses E. Bates and J- Keenan.
