AKAROA SAILING AND POWER BOAT CLUB
SPECIAL MEETING TO ALTER RULE A special meeting of the club was held last evening when Mr G. A. Hammond, commodore, presided. The club rule regarding the constitution of the general committee was altered to include all members of the club.
The commodore moved a motion of sympathy with the relatives of the late F. J. Braasel. He said all seafaring men and sailing club members had lost a comrade and a friend. The motion was carried in the usual manner. v
Sir R. Heat'n Rhodes wrote accepting the office of patron of the club and enclosing £1 Is donation. He stated he hoped to be present to witness one of the races this season. Donations of £1 Is and 10s were received from Messrs J. B. Hay (Pigeon Bay) and H. A. Rhind (Lyttelton) respectively. j Canterbury Association Matters Mr F. J. A. Wright, delegate to the Canterbury Association wrote that he had attended last meeting. He stated that it was proposed td hold the Sanders cup trials on November 18 and 25 and December 2 week-ends at Lyttelton. The Association also agreed to supply all boats with numbers and it was necessary to nominate boa Is under and over 18ft. Mr Wright stated that the Association would appreciate assistance towards funds to send the Canterbury banders cup challenger to Wellington. Mr Wright's report was considered satisfactory and it was decided to take action as he suggested.
Messrs C. Pool, A. Hayward, I. Petterson, D. Helps and W. H. Jackson were appointed to make arrangements for tea on opening day.
Mr Vangioni repoi'ted that some members of the club were providing a collection box to be placed on Daly's wharf. Mr W. H. Jackson was elected a member of the club. It was decided to enquire if the Akaroa Butter factory was available for storing of sails. Mr D. Beaumont moved the two races the boats be started together and not under the Mark Foy
system. This was carried. It was; also decided that during the Sanders cup and idle-along trials at Lyttelton that poirts for the cup would not, count when club races were held.
Mr C. Pool r.ioved the club write to the Borough Council asking them to put a concrete block at the end of the trolley, the club to meet the cost.
A race was arranged for every Sunday and Mr Vangioni reported that a number of trophies had been offered
already
