AKAROA GOLF CLUB

OPENING OF SEASON The Akaroa Golf Club opened its. 1939 season yesterday afternoon in perfect weather. Mr F. Davis, President, who was. introduced by the Club Captain, Mr W. J. Thompson, wished the club a good season. The finances were in a sound position and a number of new members had joined, so that the club should be assured of a successful season. He said that in-ter-club matches were very necessary to bring on the play of the club and he hoped that more would be arranged in the coming season as the Qjfc club had gone back last year in this direction. He thanked the ladies for providing afternoon tea and declared the season open. The following were the results of the competitions :— Men Putting—L. Narbey. Approach and Putt—L. Narbey. Drive —W. J.
