SLOOPS' REGATTA.
Held at ; Akaroa on Fridiay. The ships' companies of th H.M.S.'s 1 Leith and Wellingto IheM 1 their annual regatta a Akaroa on Friday in ides weather.' A fine sunny day witi a light southerly breeze gav the competitors a smooth cours to row over well out in: the hai bour near the two ships. Th' thirteen rowing events, for whic] points were allocated resulted ii the Leith winning by 81 point to the Wellington's 74 points though right to the (last the in terest was maintained as point were very even. The men on th< ships encouraged their crews t< victory and events were watchec by all with the keenest interest His Worship the Mayor, (Mr F Davis), the Harbourmaster (Mi E. E. Eves), and the Town 1 Clerl (Mr P. G. Riches) were invitee on board to watch the regatta. Results were as . follows, the ■ points' gained by each ship being given in parenthesis :— Petty Officers' Skiff—-Leith 3rc and 4th (3), WelUington Ist anc 2nd l (7). Seamen's Whalers —Leith Ist and 2nd (14), Wellington 3rd and 4th (6). Stokers' Skiffs—Leith 2nd and 4th (4), Wellington Ist and 2nd (6). Miscellaneous Wbakrs—Ler.th Ist (6), Wellington! 2nd (3). Open Sculls I —Leith 2nd' and 4th (2) Wellington Ist and 3rd < 4) ' Officers' Whaler —Leith 2nd (3), Wellington Ist (6). Seamen's Skiffs—Leith Ist and 2nd (7), Wellington 3rd and 4th (3). Stokers' WhaJlers—Leith 2nd and 3rd (10), Wellington Ist and 4th (10), Seamen's Sculls—Lelith 3rd and 4th (1), Wellington Ist' and 2nd (5).
