E BON'S BAY ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the Le Bon's Bay Road Boardi was held in the Board's office on Saturday, September 21st. There were present Messrs W. G. Dalgl'ish (Chairman), W. Mackay, G. ■Mould, A. A. Macphail and T. Mcintosh. | Correspondence was received from City Treasurer re heavy traffic allocation of fes asking for a statement 'cf the expenditure on maintenance I of the roadways during the financial year 1927-28 with the items which go to make up the expenditure mark- 1 i ed thereon. I ' The Clerk reported he had supplied ! I the information. | I From the Le Bon's Dairy Company J ! asking the Board if they would erect j | a public notice board in a central j I porition. I ; .Mr Mackay moved -that the Board , : erect a notice board seconded by the ! Chairman and carried. j ' t It was left to Mr Mcintosh to make arrangements with Mr Truman with a view to erecting the board. j • From Valuation Department advis-1 ing the Board that they had paid in i to bank Akaroa, £125, being subsidy j on rates. I ! 'Re letter from l surfaceman asking i for an increase of wages, held over j from last meeting far certain enquir- j ies to be made, the Pigeon Bay Road ] Board advised that they had paid I their surfacemani ISs per day. From : Akaroa and Wainui Road Board ad- | vising that they paid their surface- | men 14s per day and from Okain's ;Bay Road Board that they paid sur--1 facemen 13s per d : ay for married men I and 12s for single, man. I Mr G. Mould moved the wages reImain as they were; seconded by Mr | Mcintosh. j An amendment by the Chairman th'ait the Board grant the surfacemen an increase of Is per day, making it >l'3s per day was seconded' by Mr A A. Macphail. The amendment was then put to the meeting and declared carried; 'Messrs Macphail Mackay and the Chairman voting for i't. The Chairman said 1 as the application- was put in l a month ag-o he would move that the increase start from last meeting; seconded by Mr MacI phail An amendment by Mr G. Mould that the increase start from that day was leconded by 'Mr Mcintosh. j The amendment was put and declar j ed lost'and the motion was carried, j M'ETAIL FOE CRUSHER. j After seme discussion it was resol- j ; ved ; to call l tenders for spawling 200 yards of metal, the metal to be procured from the creek below the factory bridge. The ranger's report was read and adopted. The foreman's report was read as follows :—"Since your last meeting the following- work has been done :— Most of the month has "been put in on the Back road which has been done up from! end 1 to end and is now in good order with the exception of about four chains near Mr J. MeIntos l's gate which will be fixed l later on. Had scrub cut back on new read to give a clear view. Filled in potholes on the' Flat roadi cut down over hanging limbs near Mr H. Partingtons 'Repaired: temporarily a culvert beyond the top of Panama. The posts at the wharf door have been strength ensd' by iron, stays let into cement and bolted 1 at the bottom. Am at prese it working a break in the stone wall on Jetty road' near the wharf when low tides permit and 1 repairing stone walls further up the road. There are quite a number of places to do. Have also put cut three sheets cf iron on the, wharf shed. The cement pipes ordered last meeting have been landed at wharf." After passing accounts amounting to £51 2s the meeting adjourned.
