Mr Reg. iMora, youngest son of Mr T. Mora, Le Bon's Bay has been appointed manager of the Rangiotu Dairy Company, Pike's Road on the Foxton line. Mr Mora, who has been in the 'North Island some years was chosen out of a number of applicants. The Wainui ;Cricket Club opened its season with a scratch game on Saturday when there was a good muster of players. It is hoped that the coming season will be a successful one. The. new Pavilion on the Domain promises to be a great acquisition to- the' Club and its supporters. At the 1 last meeting of the Akaroa 'branch of the Mothers' Union Mrs Walking of Christchurch gave an address on simple home remedies for babies and adults. She was accorded a very hearty vote of thanks. During the afternoon Mrs Best, daughter of Mrs Watkins, kindly sang several songs which were much appreciated. IMr F. Langbein, of the Public Works Department, on a. recent visit to Banks Peninsula complhr«?nted' the Akaroa' County Council on the excellent condition of its Main 1 road. At the same ti'me he advised the 'Council! to widen the road up the .Barry's Bay hill below the Hill Top. He pointed out that in: addition to ibeing on the narrow side the road had a precipitousi drop on the outer edge. The Akaroa Ladies' Bridge Club had its final gathering on Friday at the "Kowhai" Tea Rooms, when unfortunately bad weather resulted in a smaller attendancei than was exj pected. The winners of the best 8 . scores out of 10 evenings were Miss E. Jacobson Ist., Miss J. Le Lievre 2nd., Miss' M. Le Lievre 3rd., Mrs A. Shuttleworth 4th., Miss E'thel Le Lievre sth., andi Mrs C. Petterson 6th The winners of the trophies at the ten' evenings were Mesdafes Richardson, W. A. 'Newton, C. Petterson, Misses U. Brocherie l , >L, Vangioni, M. Le Lievre and E. Jacolbson (2). On Friday evening a progressive tournament was held when Miss E. Jacobson was the winner. In order to get. the the best return for his produce, the farmer must be able to cut down transportation costs. The best way to handle light produce is to buy a good used car fitted with a truck body.
