DOMAIN TENNIS CLUB.
OPENING OiF SEIAiSON. The Domain Tennis Club opened its season on Saturday in beautiful we'ather. The courts are well sheltered being practically a sun trap and' the cold wind was not felt; Th;ere was a large- attendance of members who enjoyed games of ten-
nis, competitions, etc. A very sumptuous afternoon, tea. was provided for all.
The Mayor (iMr G. Armstrong) who is President of the C'lu;b declared the season open. He said ha was not certain, whether he had been- President of the Cluibi for 3'4 or 35 years; 'but he had always taken the keenest interest im the Club's welfare. He s-ai'd they had two good courts and beautiful' surroundings and all they wanted was some more members. He was glad to see Miss M. Mc'Nab back in the position of Hon. Secretary and was sure she would straighten out the finances of the club. He hoped' they would have a thoroughly successful season. The Club had' held the "Surprise" Cup far two years and the Rhodes Cup and there was no reason why they should not have further victories. He declared the season open, again wishing the Club every success. The- competitions were won as follows :— Scallfwag croquet—'Mrs F. Armstrong. Putting—'Miss E. Jacoibson. PRESENTATION OF RACQUETS. The Mayor, Mr G. Armstrong has kindly donated both' a lady's and j gentleman's l tennis racquet to be given this coming season to the winners of the ladies handicap singles and the men's handicap singles.
