THE CONCERT.
The concert, which took place in the
Oddfellows' flail jn the evening was a mark ed success, Misses MiMiell and J. Lelievre opened wit!', a violin and pianoforte duet, and these two young ladies were most good natured in giving every assistance during the evening with accompanimer te. They bith have v e'ear crisp touch, which mstde their music .\ great lit lp towards the success of tin evening. Messrs Cropp and Taylor sang the w.-H known duets, *' All's Well" and " Larboard WaUh,*' The two voices blended rxcellcniiy and the duets Were rendered with great .p-it;so that these two items were, perhaps the best tf the evening-. Mr Taylor also sang Iwo solos, " The Carrival," and Hoainnah in Excel' sis," in his u?ual good voici. Mr Cropp'a solos, •'Drinking," an 1 " l_inzs of the Road," were sung with _f>at r-p ; ri*i and a thorough mastery of all the difficult pi*. sagos, Mr Seelcn sing "Or the Banks of the Wabash " with a chiru-r and piano and vklia accompaniments. Misa Ivy Stubbi gave a recitation, entitled tl». "Fireman's Wedding," in a vtry pUinsir.g manne-, her enunicabion beirg pirr.icul-.rly clear and god. Miese* Mitchell and J. Lelievre and Mr 5-celen g.ve two irstrumental trioß, Mill Lelievre, playing the piano ; Miss Mitchell, the vklin; and Mr Seelen, the slarionet. Both numbers were thoroughly enjoyed, e'-p'c ; a!ly the last, a charming, bright, fanti sia A pi,.t oforte r-010, by Mies Frances 1 Newton, jv a j render, d very cha'mingly, he execution being especially good. Vocal ■ o!o£ were givan by Mrs A, Lelievre, Misse, Jacobson and Vangioni. Mrs Lelievre, particuh ri.-, was in very good voice. Misaet O and J. Lelievre give a pianoforte and violin du-t, Miss O. Lelievre, the violinist, playing the "Minstrel Roy," with varia* tio 8, Master C. Lelievre danced a sailor's homppe in cm' ume v ry well. Muck cl WW due to the work »f tha Qp_SfpP, and especially of the Secretary, Mr #, Armstrong jr, who had been indo'atigable, He con* gratuhted Mr Barwick on his excellent per formance and regretted that owing to a p-otest being lodged against Mr Mason, the winner of the medals, he was unab'e to pre sent them to that gentleman. However, he congratulated him on hi. splendid success and expressed a hope that he would soon receive his due rswerd.
