END OF THE VICTORIAN STRIKE.
The strike has ended. The men have * v onditicnally surrendered. The settlement of the strike was arranged at a conference held in tho Parliamentary 13uiHi*.g8 between the Premier, tbe Minister of Railway*, the Isaders of the Opposition and the Labjur Party, Mr Duffy, Sir J. Madden and the Pres : dent and Secretary of l ha Engine DnVera' Association. It was su-miaed that the conference was with regard to the stri-e, but tha strictest secrecy q was observed as to the nature of the proceedings. The c:nfererce broke up «t 2.30, wnen it was understood that it would meet) again, fc'oon after 3 p.m. it was reported that the strike was over. At first the oewa **■ was received with increiality. The first authordtive news came f:om the Premier.
