The crowds for the only egreee, where there was a tearful crush. The shrieks of the women and children were hearts rending, and the wa»kest were trampled to death. The fire was worst on the right side of tin- bazaar, the flimes cutting off communication aud preventing attempts made to re«;h the exit. Most of tho people were ! iirfhed to the opposite si ie and dashed against a stone wall. One hundred and frty of those in the bazaar escaped through a window. After the fire the ambulance men found the limbs of many victim - brokeD, and the sknlle of many others fractured. It was impossible to recognise the features of many of the dead. It is estimated that two hundred were killed an 1 a hundred injured. LosrnoN, May 5. Alf. Johnson, an Anstmlinn draughtsman, employed in the Admiralty Department, committed suicide by shooting himself with a revolver. He left a statement to the effect that his father was ruined in the late Australian financial crisis. Washington, May 5.
