At Wednesday's meeting Mr Rennie stated that £260 per annum had been left under the will of the late Mr Gammack for four scholarships, and probably the money would be available next
January.
The election of the Committes at Okain's Bay was confirmed.
In reply to their enquiry as to the opening of the new school, the Rabbit •Island Committee were informed that Mr Lancaster would be unable to take charge before the "Ut Auguet, behaving to give the month's notice to his present Committee.
On the application of the Committee, Miss Armstrong , , of Akaroa irchool, was granted leave of absence till the end of June on the usual conditions.
The Normal School recommended that children whi>j"'from the time of leaving the primary schools, had regularly attended at some secondary school approved by the Board, should be placed on the same footing with regard to competing for iSenior Scholarships as were the successful candidates for the Janior Scholarship. The report was adopted.
Mr Peryman gave notice to move— " That a circular be sent to all the teachers under the Board in charge of district public schools, stating that the practice now prevailing of giving home lessons to children under twelve years of age mast henceforth b3 discontinued."
