AKAROA BOATING CLUB.
A Committee menting of the Akaroa Boating Club was held on Tuesday.Present —Messrs McGregor (Chairman), Wolfreys, Newlon, Taylor, Penlington, Fyfe, Woodill, Leete, The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed, : Correspondence was reed—Frotß N.Z. A.R.A,, acknowledging receipt of one guiue* towards the expenses of the crews to Sydney, also enclosing report of the meeting of delegate?. Accounts *vere paesed— C. O'Rielly 23s 6d, Penlington : Ss 6d. Tha Hon. Sec. laid before the meeting an account of the receipts and expenditure in connection with the recent social, which showed a debit balance of 54. Resolved that the deficit be charged to the general fund. Mr Woodill moved J and Mr Penlington seconded—That a hearty vote of thanks be accorded to Misses Vangioni and Reegan, Dr. Lfting, and Messrs Bruca, Helbert, Vangioni and Penlington, for songs contri" buted, and to the ladies who kindly assisted with (he refreshments. Carried.
The Hon. Sec. brought down an approximate balance-sheet of the Club's financial position, showing receipts to date—£74 16s 6<S; expenditure—£63 Oβ lid ; subscriptions outstanding £14 j liabilities, of the £50 loan were £20 12s 7d
Mr C Newton laid before the meeting plans and specifications of the proposed odditiou9 r.o the Boathouse which he had biQidly prepared. After a long discussion generally conceded that in view of the Steadily increasing membership, the enlargement of the shed, together with a weter&ajiply. greatly needed. Mr Pw&lington mo*ed\ Mi? Fyfe seconded Ihafe a heerfy rote of thanks be paasel to fflt 9» Newton for the care and trouble he had in preparing the plans. (Osrried).
Tb(J Captain stated tji&t Dr. Lainghadvery kindly offered to get up an entertainment in aid of the funds of the Club, Taylor moved, and Mr Wolfreys seconded that the Club hold an Art Union. (-Carried). Ihe Horn Sec. was directed to write to the Colonial Secretary for t,he necessary permit.
