This match took place on the racecourse on, Saturday, the visitors winning by 8 points lo nil. The weather was splendid, and a large number of spectators were present. The refereeing was bad, and some of the players evidently thought that they "were., in the ring, instead of playing a friendly. . game. The visitors had a'strong team and some splendid kickers (especially in the scrums). Halinay, Brown,andJFinchftur played heft for Lakeside, as did Buchanan, Robinson, Watkins, and Davis for Wairewa. After the match the visitors were eutertained to dinner at the Forsyth Arms, where there was a good spreaol provided. During the evening songs were well rendered by members of both Clubs, and a Maori war-dance was capitally executed by the Native

members
