FOOTBALL.
On Saturday tho Akaroa Club sent a team to Lilthv River to play the Waiw<Ta F.C. The game, which v/as a most enjoyable and friendly one, roHuited in a win for Waiweru by 9 points to 3. Mr Taiaroa waa referee, and gave every satisfaction. For the losen;, Newbiggan, A. Narbey and Bam ford played well. Bam ford scored the try for Akaroa just on titno Buchanan at full-back, played his usual safe and reliable game. The home team were very much heavier than the visitors. J Buchanan and Birdling were amoug the bast of the backs. The forwards were principally Maoris, aud a really fin a lot they aro.
The visitors were entertained at a dinner, where Mr Nufct had spared no paifrs to provide a, good spread. The game was pronounced by tho Akaroa team to be the most enjoyable one they have yet played*
Next Saturday the Akaroa and Le Bon's te;ai?s meet in Akaroa. As the hist match between team,-) r<*salted in a draw, this one v\i;l he watched with great ..interest.
