THE TRUE PROTECTION.

Nowadays the fiaoal policy is always a prominent plank in thn nMf'vrn of every politician, yot is it n wise policy on the part of the oonsumprj to pic« i\ tax on the articles which they do not mike bat only consume ? SuppoßS, for instance, the customs duty is 33 per cent on imported goods, the wages of the labounr in nil grades of employment in a country thus protected, should be 33 per cent higher than in a freetrade country, to rmke things equal—but, is it ever the case ? True protection, like charity, begins at home, and in these days when the air is laden with microbes, bacteria and other germs of disease, it behoves us all to be on guard against the common enemy ; o'd age kills but few, dieease slays its thousands and millions, and all because mankind is bo apathetic and careless about first signs of approaching pickneas. Neuralgia is one of the most positive signs of approach of eouie physical affliction, and requires immediate attention, before it has progressed beyond human aid and fatal disease lias got hold of some vital organ. S. 0. Reilly, E'q., writes, under date June Ist. 1891, from Garner's Avenae, Marrickvillp, N.S.Wi : " I can with confidence bear testimony to the wonderful curative powers of Clements Tonic. For years I have been periodically attacked and a great eafferer from neuralgia and general debility, and anyone who has ever been afflicted with eucb nervous misery can form an idea of what I have suffered. I had also chronic indigestion, general languid feelings, and an utter dislike to exert myself. The neuralgia was so severe tbat I have paced the ball all night, and the agony waa so excruciating that I was almost out of my mind. I tried all so-called remedies, el so galvanic treatment, which did no good. At last a friend recommended Clements' Tonic, and I was bo miserable and disheartened that I purchased a email bottle, and after a second dose felt great relief.

I continued its use, and am thankful to say that after twenty-four hours the pain had disappeared, and I was free from the nervous terror. I continued Clements Tonic, and have tnken four bottles ; all my languor is gone, I am free from indigestion, I can do a dsy'e work with any man, and out like a horse ; and have groat pleasure in recommending Clements' Tonic to anyone suffering from nervous complaints.—Yours truly, S. C. Reilly."
