In a low scoring game at Alexandra Excelsior A defeated Omakau by 25 runs. Owing to the bad state of the outfield, batsmen found runs very hard to get away and in Excelsior A's total of 65 not one boundary was scored. The bowlers were in the ascendency throughout the game and Hinton with 5 for 19 and White 5 for 28 bowled well for their respective sides. At Cromwell an interesting game resulted in a draw between the home side and Excelsior B. Cromwell in their innings amassed 190 runs B. Partridge (51) being top scorer With under an hour and a half left for play, the Excelsior batsmen decided to go for the runs and at stumps were 26 runs short of the Cromwell total with the loss of 4 wickets B. Johns. Fenwick., Pierce and Cunningham all played bright cricket.
