NASEBY BOROUGH.

COUNCIL MEETING. The ordinary monthly meeting of the Naseby Borough Council was held in the Council Chambers on Monday, October 19. Present: His Worship the Mayor (Mr J. Bremner), and Councillors Keogh, Kennelly, Provan, Strong and Hotton. Councillor Hotton moved that the minutes of the last ordinary meeting be confirmed. Councillor Strong moved, as an amendment, that the minutes be not confirmed until that portion dealing with the Mayor's ruling as out of order Councillor Strong's motion to confirm striking a special rate of £lO per annum to cover Mr Thomas Hotton's use of water for electric lighting purposes be deleted from the minutes. The motion was seconded by Councillor Kennelly. Councillor Strong explained that further information had been received, and he was convinced that the Mayor's ruling was incorrect. | His Worship rose to explain that he had had legal opinion, and found Councillor Strong incorrect. - Upon the amendment being put to the meeting it was declared carried by four votes to two. An application was received from Mr 0. E.' Brown, drawing the Council's attention to the state of the footpath in front of his premises, and asking that something should be done. It was resolved that the Works Committee meet Mr Brown in connection with the matter. An application from Mr M. Here for a culvert was granted. Accounts amounting to £2S/19/:j were passed for payment. _ > It was resolved that the charges I for the letting of the Town Hall be | left in the hands of the Clerk. j On the motion of Councillor Strong, it was resolved that the work of laying a drain, to the Fire Brigade premises be proceeded with. j His Worship the Mayor drew attentijn to the bad crossing over the channel near the Eire Station, and' moved | that this work be attended to. The j motion was seconded by Councillor Keogh. After some discussion, it was agreod to proceed with the work. Councillor Keogh again drew the j attention of the Council to the n-ees-sity of having a Borough Pound for dry stock within the borough, and it was resolved that the Clerk report on the regulations to next meeting of the Council.
