ALEXANDRA CALEDONIAN SOCIETY.

ANNUAL MEETING.

The annual jueeting of the Alexandra Caledonian Society was held in the Bendigo sample room on Wednesday evening, Ist March, Dr Gladstone (president) in the chair.

The minutes of the last annual meeting having been read and confirmed, the secretary (Mr A. E. Stevens) submitted the financial statement for the past year. This showed that while last season's sports meeting bad been quite a successful gathering from a sports point of view, financially there was a fairly big loss incurred The balance sheet showed that the year started with a balance on hand of £3l. Members tickets and donations totalled £l3, gate money £lB, concert and dance £26, entrance fees £35 ; tea ami refreshment" rooms £2O, and ticket race £3 ; the total income reaching £ll7. The main items of expenditure are prize monies LBS, labour on preparing sports grounds LIS, printing and advertising ,LB, band L 5, concert and dance expense L 6, and various other minor expenses totalled L2B ; the total expenditure reaching Ll4B. In addition there are liabilities outstanding of L2l, the main portion of which is the account for the renovation of the pavilion previous to the sports—namely, new doors and locks, new glass in windows, and other improvements totalling Ll6, this of course is special expenditure not directly connected with the actual sports gathering. —Ofnce-BearersJ— Office-bearers for the ensuing year were elected as follows : Patrons—Messrs J. Horn, M.P., and the Mayor (Mr W. Black): President, Dr A. E. Gladstoue.

Holloway it was decided to ask the other centres of Cromwell, Clyde and Omakau to send delegates to a meeting to be held with a view to co-operating one with the other in matters pertaining to the programme and prize-monies. The following were elected to represent the Alexandra Society—Dr Gladstone, W. Noble, J. White. Decided to ask the Gaiety Club to supply the programme for the society's concert in the evening.

Membership fee fixed as last year at us family ticket. After a lengthy discussion relative to the including of events for amateurs in the programme this year, Mr W. A. Bodkin moved " That amateur events be included in the programme."— Seconded by Mr A. Anderson. Mr J. Holjoway moved as an amendment " That amateur events be included conditional that a majority of the four district centres be willing to include amateur events."—Seconded by Mr C. Murphy. The amendment on being put was lost, the motion to include at letist two amateur events irrespective of the action of the other centres was carried. Decided that L6O be the amount of prize money to-be offered. / Mr W. Hewitt asked on behalf of the Reserves Committee for the Society to state if the members objected to the banked cycling track being levelled down, in order, if so desired, to re-irrange the playing areas of the recreation reserve. After a brief discussion a motion moved by Mr Bodkin whs carried by a majority " That the society offer no object ion to the banked track being levelled.^ The meeting closed with the usual vote of thinks to the chair.
