Sports at Bald Hill Flat.

The annual sports at Bald Hill Flat were held on Thursday last (St. Patrick's Day), the gathering being a most successful one. The weather was fine, and there wbs a good attendance of spectators. Some splendid contests took place during the day, the race for the Sheffield being an especially interesting one, and the close finishes reflected much credit on the judgment of the handicappers. The office-bearers < all worked hard to make the sports a success, and the events were all got off in good time, and without a hitch of any kind. Several pipers enlivened the proceedings with a number of well-played selections. Following are detailed results : Boy's Race, 100 yds. First 10s, second 3s 6d. S King 1 J Lythgoe 2 Four started. Gir l's Race. Firs' 7s 6d, second 2s 6d. M Dimond | heat A Lythgoe J M Mitchell 3 Four started. District Maiden, 100 yds. First 20s, second 10s. A Butler, 7yds 1 W Gilroy, scr 2 R Marshall, 6yds ... 3 M Murphy (2yds) and J Carroll (4yds) also started. Won by a yard, the same distance separating second and third. Sheffield Handicap, 135 yds.
