Football Notes.
On Saturday afternoon last the Alexandra and Clyde Clubs met on the latter's ground, the result being a drawn game, neither team having succeeded in scoring. Tbe game was principally confined to the forwards, and the play was, on the whole, rather uninteresting. Many of the players showed a want of condition, which perhaps might be expected so early in the season, and in consequence there was a lack of combination that told against both teams. The Alexandra backs more than held their own, but the want of combination among their forwards may be set down as the reason why the verdict did not go in their favour. The Clyde club this year have a strong team, and we may look forward to a keenly-contested game when the clubs next meet. The Rev Mr Fitcr ett officiated as referee, and controlled the game in a manner entirely satisfactory to every one. Preparations are now practically complete for,the annual tournament and sports at Alexandra on Wednesday next (Prince of Wales' Birthday). The entries in both tournaments, and in the other events also, are expected to be numerous, and a very enjoyable and exciting day's sport may be anticipated. A concert and dance will be held in the town hall in the evening. The following teams have been chosen to represent, the Clyde club at the tournament:— A Team :—Davidson (2), R Crawford, Grant, Keddell, C Jones, and J Scott. B Team :—Gibson, M'Oonnochie, W Gye, W Holloway, R Thompson, D O'Connell, and A Klee. Junior Team:—E Gye, R Gye, R Thurlow, C Smart, J Collins, S Naylor, and C Davidson.
