U.S. HAS NO CLAIMS
AREAS OF ANTARCTICA (Rec. 10 a.m.) WASHINGTON, Nov. 21 ' The United States announced today that it will not send any warships to, the Antarctic during the 1950-51 season. Britain, Argentina, and Chile previously announced that they had reached a similar decision by negotiation.
The United States has made no territorial claims in Antarctica, and has refused to recognise the claims- of other nations. It is understood there has been informal agreement among the interested Powers not to press territorial claims in view of the present world situation, but this agreement has been made without prejudice to existing claims.
