R.S.A. SHOW

COLOURFUL EXHIBITION

OUTSTANDING SUCCESS Although primarily a rose show, the R.S.A. flower show and bazaar held in the R.S.A. Hall yesterday was an outstanding suecess, both competitively and financially. Although entries were not large in the rose section, the standard was very high and some beautiful roses were exhibited. One of the attractions in the competitive part of the show was the brilliant display of Iceland poppies and sweet peas. Entries were large in these two classes and the judge (Mrs A. J. Millichamp) was set a very difficult task in awarding the prizes. The number of entries in the handwork section was very large. The judge (Miss J. Eratley) started her task at 10.45 a.m. and did not complete the section until two and a half hours later.

Well stocked cake, produce and work stalls did brisk business during the afternoon and evening. The show was officially opened by the Mayor (Mr E. C. Bathurst) yesterday afternoon, and other speakers were Mesdames J. R. Wells (patroness of the Women’s Section), A. L. Butterick (president), and Mr A. J. Nicoll (vice-president of the Association). Mr A. J. Millichamp judged the cut flower section.
