WIN FOR M.C.C.

MATCH AGAINST COLTS PERTH, Oct. 17. M.C.C. beat West Australian Colts by an innings and 149 runs. R. Watson, a young Western Australian Colts batsman, complained to the umpire to-day that he was blocking his, view o£ the English lefthander, Bob Berry, as that bowler ran up to the wicket.

Berry appi’oaches the bowling crease from directly behind the umpire and then swings out to deliver the ball. Play was delayed for several minutes while the umpire conferred with Berry and the English captain. When the umpire moved back a yard or two Berry could not bowl, and when he stood over the stumps the batsman could not see, so he returned to his normal position and the game continued. Gilbert Parkhouse pulled a muscle in his left leg while batting in the morning and retired at 79. The in jury is not serious, and he is expected to play again in a few days. He made his runs in 79 minutes and hit nine fours. A highlight of the day was the brilliant batting of Denis Compton, who added 50 to his overnight score m 48 minutes, before throwing his hand away. . , . , . There were eight fours m his total of 76, made in 75 minutes.
