CYCLE DEFECTS

APPEAL BY MINISTER (P.A. ) WELLINGTON, This Day. “From an examination of the returns of the recent Dominion-wide cycle check, it would seem that a large number of cyclists prefer to place their faith in the Guardian Angel rather than attend to basic safety requirements for their bicycles,” said the Minister of Transport (Mr W. S. Goosman) to-day.

He added that more than 7000 defects were found in 13,500 bicycles ex amined by officers of the Transport Department during the August check. The Minister appealed to parents to ensure that the bicycles of their children complied with basic safety requirements.
