TINWALD CLUB

CYCLING

DOUBLE HONOURS TO . W. QUAYE

The Tinwald Cycling Club held a 20-mile road race of four laps of the Allenton block on Saturday.

The shingled portion of the block was very wet and soggy after the snow, and made the going heavy. The race was very interesting throughout, with the lj-minute bunch gradually overhauling the leaders, who were riding strongly considering the day. The seven riders who completed the journey were in one bunch with a round to go, and all held together for the sprint home. It was a great sight to see the riders striving for their positions in the run home. First T. Digby led out, then R. Arnst took over control; then R. Brunton, who was passed right on the line by W. Quaye, with D. Bain finishing in third place. Quaye, who also gained fastest time, is a recent arrival from the Isle of Man, and in his five races with the club has gained two firsts and three seconds. Results:

W. Quaye (ljmin), fastest time (62 min 41 l-ssec) 1; R. Brunton (4£min) 2, D. Bain (2|min) 3, T. Digby (4Jmin) 4, T. Peach (limin) (second fastest time, 62min 43sec.) 5, R. Arnst (41min) 6, W. Skilling (3|min) 7.
